Weinkellerei Weinkönig, founded in 1978, initially focused their attention on ‘common’ alcoholic wines. Up until 1986 when they introduced an alcohol-free red and white wine. Both alcohol-free wines were so well received one immediately decided to merely produce alcohol-free wines from that moment on. Today they are one of the largest producers of non-alcoholic wines, and their delicious wines are sold worldwide. SGAAW - Thanks to the EU legislation!

Weinkönig GmbH from Koblenz has been producing "alcohol-free sparkling wine" for many years. From both conventional and organic cultivation. At some point in Brussels it was decided that something like "non-alcoholic sparkling wine" should not exist and that the product should only be offered as a "foaming beverage made from non-alcoholic wine"!

At the Weinkönig winery, we appreciate the European, intra-community market, but what we don't like at all is the urge to regulate everything. On the other hand, we are grateful to the officials from Brussels for giving us the idea of ??adding a new word to the German vocabulary.

SGAAW - is the name of this word and is an abbreviation of the term: "foaming drink made from non-alcoholic wine".

In the past, a phrase was used in Germany: "Sekt or Selters?" To create a clear distinction between alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. If you had to answer “Selters”, you were looked at with a pitying look.

We change this by paraphrasing the saying and asking:
